My dad bought it new and I am the 2nd owner.

Yesterday while mowing the drive wheels lost power a couple times while the mower drive continued to function. I suspect it is in the Hi-Lo differential. Right now everything is working fine but........

I have a manual with exploded view and part numbers.

What are the usual suspects? Worn shift fork? Never made any odd noises.

Well built machine but then it is 35 yrs old now. most of the time it has been used to mow which I believe is in the upper range. Blowing snow is Lo range but not too many hours that way.

Sound as if it is out of adjustment. The linkage and the plunger that goes in and out of the machine. Squirt some oil on them and see if they move freely. Hope you don't have a chewed up set of teeth or a broken fork. Parts on flebay and not cheep from a Gravely dealer. They used to be reasonable a few years ago.
