I recently aquired a 'barn find' 112, has a really ugly faded, peeling repaint job. Hadn't been srarted for several years but suprisingly new points, plug and fresh gas and it runs! Question is will a sears type sleeve hitch mount on a 112? Not going to use it for mowing would rather use it in the garden along with my MTD 815,

I would think that it would work with maybe some modification. I am thinking the sleeve hitch is from Brinley which offered attachments that would fit a wide variety of garden tractors back then.

The photo shows how the factory did it. In addition to making the hitch fit you will have to supply the lift mechanism under the fender deck. (Unless your tractor has previously had a sleeve hitch and the linkage was left in place.)

Usually there's hitches and the lift parts on ebay, if you want to make it easy and don't mind spending some $.

Be aware there are two older John Deere 112 garden tractor series plus a 112L lawn tractor and they do not use the same attachments. The older Sears sleeve hitch mounted on the back of the frame, which was at about a 60 degree angle. The John Deeres are, of course, all vertical. You could drill holes and bolt one on but the geometry would be off a bit. A little tinkering would likely make it work. The correct John Deere sleeve hitch and rear lift for the garden tractors is available but pricey.

Thanks for the input fellows, I got a crapsman sleeve hitch today-a little cutting - fitting and drilling and I believe it is going to be alright. There ia a plow day at the end Oct near here , the guy that has it said bring it out we'd find a place to plow. May take the plow and the tandem disc and both GT's (I'll tune it up on my garden before then)
Shopping around for another set of wheel wieghts so I don't have swap them from one to another.
Put couple 22x8.50x12 ag tires on today also
I was suprised to find a hitch without having to order one, and on sale to boot!
