My JD 318 has been sitting for a few weeks now. Today I started it so I could move some snow. When I tried to lift the loader bucket I
got a sound that I think was the pressure relief valve bypassing oil and it slowed the engine down. The loader bucket was apparently
frozen down as it didn't raise. Now when I try to lift the bucket it doesn't load the engine down when I operate the bucket lift or try
to tip the bucket. The pump clutch is engaging and I am sure it is pumping. Everything was working when I parked it. The bucket is no
longer frozen down. I'm guessing the relief valve is stuck open or has a broken spring. The air temperature was about 20 degrees F.
