JD 345 Mower Height Adjuster?

Messed up the knob that determines the height of the mower in the down position. It now just turns with no resistance and the mower bottoms out when in the down position. I don't see anything obvious that has come loose. Any idea what I busted and how to fix it? I'll pull the mower, but hope someone can tell me what to do once its off.

Something has not been connected. Try an electrical connection. They are supposed
to be a hydraulic lift powered by electric or a hose has been disconnected.
Try the John Deere site for a picture or schematic of the control linkage

I found that diagram on line but could not figure out how it works. But somehow, after fiddling with it, it started working correctly and I could adjust the height. Have a feeling its not the last of it though.
