I bought this little Kubota diesel mower a few years ago off Craigslist. Runs great, starts great, but lately the hydrostatic drive started loosing power and would barely move. Could not find any place to check the drive oil. Finally pulled off the seat, unbolted the seat springs and removed a few other bolts to get the large cover plate/fender off. Underneat was the reservoir and filler cap. Oil was barely covering the bottom of the reservoir. I fixed it so I can now service it without pulling all that stuff off. Who would design something like this? Engineers should get outside of their office sometimes. Sorry, don't mean to insult any engineers here-just making a joke!

Topped of the hydrostatic transmission with 20w-50 motor oil. That is what it looked like it already had. Been looking for a manual for it. The Kubota website does not list one for this particular model. When I find out for sure what oil belongs in it, I will change it. Topping off the reservoir took care of the drive problem though. Topped it off, drove it a while, then topped it off again. Level stabilized after the second top off.
