489 haybine hitch

Hi, We have a 489 with bad rolls and an even worse hitch pivot - not worth fixing. We are just hoping to limp it through for a little longer. I have heard and read that the hitch was a weak point on these, I was wondering if the later 492 and 1465 haybines addressed this problem. This haybine has been excellent for 22 of the last 23 years and would like another one like it. Thanks

I have not heard anything bad about the hitches; But doesnt mean it isnt true. My dad bought a new one in 1978 I beleive it was. Fantastic machine in my opinion. I looked at a new 1465 about 2 years ago at a county fair. I asked a sales rep what the differences were. He did state that the 1465 was built for heavier, & higher hp tractors. Heavier gearboxes. etc. etc. He did not mention the hitch though. But a heavier machine probably has a heavier hitch!
