851 new holland cylinder tear down

the tail gate cylinders have a set screw near the ram end of the cylinder besides that set screw what keeps the end seals and the ram rod from coming out ? mine are leaking and need to replace the seals

Take the set screw out and drive the gland back an inch or so.
You will then see a retaining ring, remove this and the whole
rod assembly will come out. The set screw is just holding the
rod gland so it doesn't move back into the barrel.

Your welcome. Just did a couple for a customer a few weeks
ago. I see about 20 a year. A lot of different manufacturers
use this design.
