1090 Hesston Home

Made it all 47 miles home just fine, just glad I did it early Sat morning, as it is still kind of wide, even with the hitch swung over.

Got it hooked up to the M, and all seems ok, but there is a fair amount of slop in that upper sickle driver pivot. Need to check that for wear, and the sprocket on the lower conditioner roll, RH side, is loose. From what I can tell, this was a common issue.

Got a little work to do, but I think it'll be a decent machine.

Well you know we do love pictures........

I think you will find out that you have a heck of a machine per dollar invested. I would have bought that machine for the bargain price that you found and I do not even need it.

My Hesston uses Gib Keys to hold the sprockets on. My owner's manual covers in detail how to install and remove the Gib keys - even shows how to make a little tool from a punch/chisel to make the job easier. Luckily, so far I have yet needed to remove one of these.

Worked for a Hesston dealer for about 5 years, so am pretty familiar with Gibb keys...best tool I ever made was out of a wedge lock from the feeder house of an old Gleaner.

Started looking it over....ever notice all the things you just can't see until you own something? :D

Going to need some reel tube bushings, an idler sprocket on the reel drive, and lock collar on one conditioner bearing, pus some guard bolts and such.
Off to the dealer tomorrow for parts.

Dont forget stub guards was the best thing I did to mine, Had a 1071, and just replaced the drive sprocket for the reel, and you allready know make sure all them gibb keys are tight!
