Is it better to store the mower with the cutter bar in
the raised position or with cutter bar on the ground ?

I always store them with blade up but be sure to keep your fingers out of the bar area when you left it or you can end up with one or more less fingers. I have known a good number of people that have done this and lost a finger or 2

Take a piece of black plastic drain tile like they use around foundations. Slit it lengthwise and force it over the guards. Save somebody some serious injury. Covers the entire thing.

If I remember correctly on your mower the tail wheel is in center at back and the previous model it is offset to the right. I had both in a colection at one time And the Coop I had had 2 wheels on back. That Coop would set solid when unhooked. The No. 5 with wheel to right sat decently but still should have the bar lowered but still upright to keep from tipping to the right with just a bit of pull. The No. 8 with the wheel in center the bar has to be set down but still in upright position or else without the wheel on right to hold back end up it would tip over to right just from weight of bar. You dont want that as they are very hard to get back upright. If you have some weights you can lay on the left side of frame to make the left side heavier to hold that side down if you do have to leave it with the bar raised. I did have trouble with the No.8 wanting to tip over. And then some mowers can only be stored with the bar fully laid down as the Oliver 3 point I had. Design of the mower makes a big difference in how to unhook to store. On the No. 8 with bar raised the left hand stand was hardly touching the ground or floor so did not take much to tip enough that the stand was in the air.

I might make some storage legs like the mower Came with the from the factory

I had those and the left side was light. Just a concrete block or 2 layed on that left side when unhooking would help. The longer the bar the easier to tip.
