first problem on basketcase 60 - stuck valve

Hey all, so I have the 60 in a "shed" to work on it. First problem is a stuck valve. I mixed a 50/50 solution of acetone & ATF, made sure the other valve was shut, & put a pint into the spark plug hole. If this is gonna work, is it fairly fast, or will it take awhile?

Also, the extra radiator I have came off a non-power steering 60. The top tank is different. I've started to CAREFULLY remove the bolts & nuts that hold the top tank on the bad radiator.

A pint probably won't go very far. Did you try tapping on the valve stem to see if it would spring free?

I dumped it in until it was coming back out. The piston is at TDC. I took the valve cover off, and tried to push on it. The other three push easy. I did try tapping it with a hammer, but didn't dare hit too hard.

well you are going to have to give it a bigger hit with the hammer.
its the only way of getting it loose.
the oil in the cylinder might make you feel better but if its stuck closed the lubrication aint gonna do much
thats because it cant get into the valve stem area to help out.
look at it this way as long as you hit the valve dead center, you are not going to harm anything.
just remember, all you have to do is move it a quarter inch. spray some wd40 on the stem area outside.
then you can use a crowbar or two prybars to help pull it back. moving it a quarter inch in will then
let the juice inside do its thing.
Either you are going to move the valve with the hammer on the out side or you are going to have to pull the
head.
Hit it like a man my dad would say. good luck

An intake or exhaust valve ? Don't be afraid to fill that engine up with diesel or something like that. Put the spark plugs back in and fill the exhaust or intake up this will get the fluid where it's needed. Come back after awhile and try tapping on the valve stem. Easier to do if you remove the rocker arm assembly. Once you get it tapped in you can use a pry bar and pry it back the other way or sometimes tap it back some with the top of the piston. You should be able to get it freed up and running if the valve is all that's hung up.

Put a vice grip pliers on the end of the valve stem and wiggle it back and fourth and tap, I have free several up like that
