I'm installing a new injection pump (Lucas CAV)on a 6400. I took the window cover off and I see letters a-g with a mark but I don't see another mark to line them up with. I want to get it perfect before I remove it so installing will be easier. Which letter/mark do I use and what do I line it up with?

If the pump model # begins with 334, look for a scribe line near one of the three mounting studs that aligns with the timing housing scribe line. Long as it goes back the same way don't worry about timing. If I recall the drive gear on the pump has an alignment key. Older JD engines used a three bolt gear hub, with an alignment pin that went into the hub face groove. Used to be the letters inside were used for timing, and aligned with the square edge of the snap ring inside. CAV stopped doing that on the later engines..

Ok your correct. I removed some dirt and found my scrib lines. So as long as the gear doesn't fall I should be able to line everything up again. The gear and shaft are keyed.
