So.... Got to working on it this morning and found it mildly stuck. A little pry bar on the flywheel and she was free.

Pulled it around, had oil coming out of gauge connection. Then find I didn't have fuel. Ended up pulling the fuel bowl and found an incredibly fine clay like material. Could not figure out what it was. It completely plugged the filter screen, filled the neck of the strainer solid and had a layer in the gas tank. When I pulled the fuel bowl from the tank, the stuff was came so hard to the top of the inlet I had to take a screwdriver and nearly chisel it off. No idea what it was, but man what a pain in the neck.

Checked float height and just about 1/2". Checked fuel flow and it flowed well. Pulled it some more with plugs out and blew everything clear of the cylinder. Put plugs in and stressed pulling it. About 100ft of pulling/coughing and it ran. Actually ran pretty well. Throttled up and down fine. Went to move it under its own power and stalled it. Bloody thing wouldn't have crank or pull start at all.

Started to do some checking and plugs looked good, not flooded, but not dry. When puking again we got an occasional pop, but I realize I should have checked the spark immediately, oops, I'll do that tomorrow. But what was weird was that it was hot! Exhaust was 190, manifold near exhaust was 190 and the air inlet elbow before the carb was 160. That leads me to think exhaust is going through carb. Only possibility I can think of is intake valve is hung open. Any other possibilities?

Since it would run puking it the second time, could the mag be getting warm and losing spark?

Thanks. This thing was really starting to frustrate me.

I've had the Carb register HOT when the MAG was misfiring (Impulse drive faulty) .....found this out with a Strobe Light.

Ignition was all over the spectrum....35 deg BTDC....20deg ATDC etc, etc,

Had the same thing when Valves were stuck open....

Had the same thing when Valves were not set.....

Had the same thing when valves were not sealing...

Yep. Even though the head has been rebuilt, found an intake that wasn't seating. A little persuasion and it now seats. Hopefully that fixes that problem. Thanks for confirming my thinking.
