The original subject was "Re: 24v Generator to 24V Alternator".

This kit by Select Parts Sioux City Ia. 1-800-535-8035, is NOT recommended. The bracket they send does not work on the 4010. I had to make my own bracket.

The nut on the alternator is very similar to The amazon 24 volt alternator on Amazon. Only 70 amp instead of 50.

When mounted so the pulley is inline, The fan blade hits the nut and threaded shaft that holds the pulley on the alternator by about 5/16"

I am going to have to address that issue today. either by trimming the bolt and nut back or by spacing the fan out. Or a combination of the 2.

I really hate when people sell a kit and it turns out to be total garbage.

It is a waste of time and money to go in that direction,,switch to 12 volt..and all will get better....

I realize that. Money's tight and if the 24 volt alternator kit had fit as it should have. I would have hoped that the recently rebuilt 24 volt starter and alternator would have out lasted me.

The last 4010 we had - 35 years ago - we upgraded to 12 volt when the starter went out.

With the trouble I am having with this kit, it's like they never sold one before and I'm the guinea pig.

Apparently they have some out there. They admitted the mounting bracket was an issue when I called them.

Now I will be calling about the fan hitting the nut that holds the alternator pulley on>

The generator pulley didn't have anything sticking out past the pulley. The nut and shaft were recessed. I should have picked up on that then

"IF" the shaft size is the same you can use the double pulley for a 4430 alt.,,the nut is recessed..then use the outer "V"

Thanks. I am also going to check the generator pulley. They are supposed to be sending me a new pulley. But I need to be done messing with this. Their lack of providing what they charge for has cost me a lot of time

I tell my customers when the starter goes it's time to convert to 12 volts,,and when they do they wondered why they waited...

I'm converting a 4020 here now...my goal is to get rid of every 24 volt system in my area :>)
