JD MT removing rock shaft for inspection

I have a 1950 JD MT and trying to remove the rock shaft but the 2 rods that come fro the control levers are holding it from
coming off and the other end up front has only a hole to look in and not big enough to get tools in it to unclip it there. Does
and one have an idea if I need to remove the front cover to unhook the rods? what is best way to get rock shaft off to see the
piston and check everything out?..thanks

Hope this helps.

Thanks James for your help. This weekend I will hopefully get it apart. I have a John Deere parts catalog that shows the exploded views but does not show the pictures and the procedure. with what you said it makes sense. Its so rusty in there I could not see the clips. now I know . thanks again for your help.
