What to do with a 44 cracked block

Hello,
I got a 44 "to restore". After taking apart the entire engine, and cleaning everything, I find out that there are 2 cracks on the block:

One between 1-2 on the upper deck
One between 3-4 on the upper deck, same place than the other crack

Those cracks should not create any water leak or problem, right?

So my question is:

Should I ignore those cracks and go ahead with the rebuilt?
Is that a common problem on the H260 engines?

Thank you very much,

Frederic

It is not uncommon on wet sleeve engines. Should be okay. We just did a 4 cyl. IH and it was cracked between all cyl. No signs of any problem before or after rebuild.

I once had a 55 block cracked in the same manner repaired at Metal Locking Services in Buffalo. NOT CHEAP! But the repaired deck is stronger than the original casting due to the process and the material used to make the repair. That said, I know people who have run cracked blocks for a long time with no issues.

Thank you,
I will proceed with reassembling then.
Also for part sources, do you know of cheaper sources:
-Full set gasket FS7624B -Summit-109$
-Rings set: FP919KX -Summit-86$
-Water pump: 96.5$ on this website
-O rings for the sleeves: Do you know the dash number of the O-rings for the H260? (This might be a dumb question, the O-rings might be included in th full gasket set).
- Rear seal: I got the seal that is not bolted on (It is much cheaper then) Is that the same than some GM engines? So could I get a better seal at an auto store than what the original one was? Or should I thread the block and put the newer bolted-on seal on?

the sleeve seals, 0-rings are usually included in the full gasket set. Where did you find the factory original rear main seal? It hasn't been available for years. The only option was the bolt on seal and it was never included in the full set, was always separate for about an extra $65 to $85. I have noticed in the latest Steiner Tractor Parts book they have a reproduction factory seal that IS included in their set now.

So Now I am looking at the rear seal.
I tought the 2 parts seal would be easy to find. The cross reference is a Victor Reinz JV717 or 49863, but impossible to find anywhere.
So just to make sure, everbody is using the bolt on style rear main seal?

Also, I figured now that my 44 had a H260 but was bored over later like a 277. During the process, they probably resurfaced the block and the liners are now shimed.
Where can I find the shims?
Many thanks!

Rock auto has one set of 919KX rings left for $47.79. They also have the gasket set for $97.00 and some change. The Fel Pro gasket sets I have bought have came with the oring seals.
