MF 165 PTO clutch photos and question

PTO would not work and found an repaired hydraulic line that actuated the clutch. Young man that owns tractor wondered if he should replace clutch plates. I think they look fine, but wanted to ask the experts. They do not look worn to me..

Hello Richard,
Massey Ferguson do not give any specifications as to the serviceable thickness of the IPTO plates other than 'inspect for wear, damage and scoring'. You should soon see if the plates are worn as the depth of the grooves will have worn significantly. Certainly check for any damage and scoring but also for any signs of overheating and distortion. If you have a surface plate or even a sheet of glass you should soon be able to see if there is any distortion. They do not look to be badly worn as far as is possible to seen in your photo. I would certainly replace the wave springs to ensure that the plates seperate correctly.
