Massey 65 Differential Question

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but I don't have much luck with the search function here.....

I'm changing differential seals and brake discs on my 65. The new trumpet gaskets I got off this site measure .020". The old (obviously compressed) gasket is .009". I have my doubts the new ones will compress that much. This would lead me to believe that the adjustment of the carrier bearings and backlash will be kind of messed up if I move forward.

Is there a thinner gasket available? Is it really not that critical? I would have to guess I'd add at least .010" endplay by doing both sides. It really doesn't look like any fun to even check the preload and backlash on this thing, much less adjust anything. Maybe just try to salvage the original gasket with some RTV?

Thanks for any insight, Jeff
