Should the fuel cap on my 1967 MF135 with Perkins diesel be vented or non-vented? I see on this website you can purchase either version and both are for the 135???

Cap MF part number 520948M91 if it "locks" on the inside of the neck (I've never seen one).
Cap MF part number 828583M91 if it "locks" on the outside (most common).

I am not sure what you mean by "lock" on the inside. My tank looks to me as if it does lock on the inside. I will take a picture and add it to this post. My MF203 has the same tank as my MF135.

I have been using the current cap for a over a years now. The other day my father tried to use the tractor and it would not start. This tractor ALWAYS starts. He checked the fuel only to find he could barely remove the fuel cap. When he did he told me quite bit of air escaped and it was under pressure. I looked at it yesterday and the tank has actually imploded slightly!! I will admit that the last time I used it I noticed the rubber seal on the inside of the cap was folded over on one side so I straightened it up. Looks like I should have left it alone. I have the same cap on my MF203 and I have not had any issues with
it.

All gravity fed systems use a vented cap. Pressure fed systems that are non return systems also used vented cap. Not sure why they offer a non vented cap for these old machines honestly.

That makes sense to me. Looks like I will be drilling a small hole into this cap. Thanks. Odd why it worked for two years however and only recently caused any issues.

Vent hold in existing cap may have gotten clogged up with something. Bug built a nest in there for example. It happens...

I would look the cap over, and I had my reply backwards about the locks (hate when that happens).
