Replacement of Hydraulic Cylinders

I've got an 85 MF 50HX tractor. I blew out the packing on one of the rear stabilizer bars. I just went to the hydraulic shop
and the price is considerable to repair it, especially as I have some shaft damage that will require some stainless steel
welding and polishing. Does anyone have any experience installing generic hydraulic cylinders? I was at Tractor Supply today
and saw a bunch of Grizzly red cylinders that ranged from $150 to $300. This seemed pretty good to me for an all new cylinder.
My tractor weighs 14,400 pounds, so I'm guessing at times each rear stabilizer bar would support around 3,500 pounds or so. If
someone has any experience in this, please let me know how you made out.

Thanks.

I would try another shop. Most cylinder shafts are chrome plated. Don't see how they could weld them up and do a decent repair job. We have a hydraulic shop in Maine that makes new shafts or complete cylinders if needed. IMHO

I agree, find another shop, most rods on cylinders are hard chromed.
