My 65 seems low on power. Struggling to run a 6 ft finishing
mower. The other day it seemed to drop a bunch of fuel into a
cylinder or something cause when I tried to start it knocked
like as if I had used ether. It did eventually start and the
knocking went away. It sounds like it may be missing a bit.
Any suggestions???

Hi hansmyhre,
A couple of possibilities here, a failed injector/s will dump fuel into cylinder/s as you have described, causing a "heavy" knock, usually only occurring while the engine is running.
A more likely scenario is a faulty "thermostart" or cold start unit in the intake manifold. Often, when these fail, fuel leaks from the thermostart into the manifold while the engine is stopped, flooding a cylinder which is sitting with the intake valve open. When the engine is started, this excess fuel is burnt off in the first couple of revolutions, causing the knock, but with excessive "black" smoke from the exhaust. The "miss" in the engine you are experiencing, may NOW be due to either of these scenarios occurring in the past. Let us know what you find and hope this gives you the heads up, Evan.
