MF 65 planetary axle leak

I have a fairly serious gear lube leak from the planetary axles in my MF 65.

It appears to be coming from the center and drips onto the rim of the rear wheel.

I assume there is a seal behind the hub.

What is involved in fixing this?

Thanks in advance.

Best to have the service manual first. Support rear drive , remove rear tire, then trumpet. There are seals on both sides of planetary, and
another on the drive line at the trumpet connect to the final drive. This one keeps lubricant off the brake disc's. Not really difficult but takes a
few hours.

Will I have to drain my trans/hydraulic oil for this operation, or will there be a seal between the axle and planetary assembly?

You will need a hydraulic press to get the planetary apart. I would not attempt this job without a service manual if this is your first time.

There is a seal behind the hub. Book called
for a 20 ton press for reassembly and they
mean it. And there is a special tool for
removing them. I don't have the tool i did
it with just a big gear puller cross part
and screw. It isn't a hard task but you
must have the right tools for the job or
you won't get it done. I was told typically
the outer bearing and race are junk when
you get there so order them too. Mine
indeed were junk when I did my seals.
