135 steering(?) oil leak

Mowed a couple of hours and noticed heavy oil leaking from high up on the left side of console pedestal where steering shafts connect. Haven't removed battery yet to look under it. What should I expect to find?

I am finding online that there is a vent on top of the steering box. The box likely has leaking seals that is forcing oil out the vent. Others say there is no vent and seals are likely leaking directly. Some say a plugged pump filter can cause this problem. Others say no chance of that. Lots of shots in the dark. No real answers.

Mine leaks in that area as well. After just doing a double split earlier this year. It would have to leak a ton before i would open that can of worms :)

There's a seal on each side on the steering arms and a gasket at the bottom of the steering column and another gasket on plate at the clutch side.

The oil in those boxes is pretty thick so I couldn't imagine it leaking much but not a big job to replace the seals

Thanks for the responses. I removed the battery so I could see the leak. There IS a vent on top of the steering box, forward of the steering shaft and well below where the power steering banjo fittings are. I filled the P-S reservoir and went back to mow again. Still works, still leaks a lot but it still looks like a lot of it is thick gear grease. Any ideas why. Had to fill it again after a couple of hours of mowing.
