My MF202 has a small leak from the timing gear cover. I am going to treat it with a Lucas Stop Leak treatment. I am using 10W30. My question is, would the stop leak work better with heavier or a lighter weight? I would think for the leak, it would work better with heavier weight oil, but then I am not really sure how the chemistry of this stop leak would work with oil.

For what you spend on stop leak you can make a good dent in the cost of a new gasket which is the only way to stop a leak.

I agree, of course it would be the right thing to do, but for a small leak I am not about to remove the loader and drop the oil pan. If I can not fix it with Lucas treatment, I guess I have to live with this small leak… maybe I will fix it at a later date when I get younger.

Gas or Diesel engine?

If Gas Engine.......perfect time to remove timing cover as Governor could be inspected before FLY BALLS separate from CAGE...

Only mentioning from experience on Neighbours Tractor.......:)
