Steering knuckle on U

I Am wondering if anyone has a steering knuckle for a 1950 U. Mine is totaly worn out and I am afraid it will fall apart at the wrong time. It is an 1 inch shaft on each side. I would like to keep it looking original as I use the U on 2row Minnie cornpicker at picking days. please email me at [email protected] or post on here. thank you for a great forum

I have used regular u-joints available for other power shaft applications. These were procured at a local welding shop. Suitable, but not original.

You don't say what year, but I am guessing you probably have the welded universal joint.

I am not aware of a new replacement for it. What I would recommend is to find a universal joint for a later style UB, or ZB as they use the 6N series 'cross' in them and they still look pretty good on there. Get the upper universal, not the one at the pedestal because it will have a roll pin hole in both ends, while the lower universal will have splines on the pedestal/steering gear side.

Weasler used to make some pretty good 6n yokes that resembled the old style like MM used, but they went to the same chunky old China junk that everyone else has.
