Has anyone removed the Roosa Master pump on a U302? Tractor was started up after sitting (inside) for 2 years. Started OK and was idling when it shut off by itself. Would not re start. Pressurized the inlet to the pump and nothing will go through. We want to take the pump off to have it gone through but are worried about timing. Is there a certain procedure we need to follow as to not mess up the timing when we go to re install the pump?

Repaired a pump for one last summer. On the pump housing side there's a two screw timing cover that comes off. After the fuel stops flowing out crank the engine by hand and watch for a mark on the plate edge inside and line it up with the cam ring mark. If you DON'T see the plate move then most likely the drive shaft is broken due to the pump hydraulic head seizure. If it DOES turn and time OK the pump should be repairable, the one I had in last summer worked fine after a complete tear down and cleaning to free up the stuck plungers.

Be glad to repair it IF the drive shaft and hydraulic head are OK. If the head is seized and drive shaft broken might be best to find another pump. Not sure if the drive shaft is available as it's not used on any other RoosaMaster application..

Not difficult to time. Same on Jetstar diesels. Usually plungers stick from sitting or out crappy fuel. Possible governor ring is bad also. Timing set at 24 BDC if I remember right.
