A4T with Degelman blade

Hello to all of you A4T lovers and owners. I have recently acquired a Degelman blade that I would like to adapt to my '71 A4T to use as a snow pusher. My biggest problem is that the unit came from a narrow-framed JD tractor, so I don't have a rear anchor bracket of any kind to work with. Because of the narrow frame status, I'll also have to mount the two front posts to the front plate of the A4T frame. If anyone out there has any information, pictures, etc. of the rear mount, I would greatly appreciate it if you could pass that on to me. I can build anything, but don't want to have to reinvent the wheel, so to speak. Thank you for your time. Jim

I took my blade off a few years ago. Ill take some
pictures of the mountings on the blade tomorrow and
post them for you. Just take mine to the tractor shows
now. Were hoping to completely restore it in the next
year or so.

Nice looking ride. Mine is very similar; '71 model w/585, 3pt, PTO and fenders on 18.4x38 rubber. I completely refurbished the cab last winter from the ground up. Has all new weatherstripping / gaskets, dual wing windows, new cab insulation and heat with Bluetooth stereo. Have new Firestone rubber coming for it too. Just went through the dropbox and new clutch. Hoping to be ready for the winter stuff, if I can get the blade on. Tired of pushing snow on the open station G900. Thanks for the reply and info.

You need to drill4 holes in the front frame for the
cylinder mounts. Lengthen the lower frame to align just
in front of the hinge pin then build a plate and clamp to
the frame.

Picture is not the best, but it is what it is. This is the quick attach shop made bracket Dad had on his A4T back in the day, just bolted to the front frame. It is not very clear but the bracket has hooks on it and there was a pipe or shaft welded betweent the two uprights on the dozer, this allowed you to pull two pins, un hook lower pin and back away from the dozer. Sometimes we just dropped off the blade and left the frame on. We later attached to an 800 versatile in the same manner.

A few other other pictures i came across. Dad had three A4ts, we fixed on them as much as we used them, they got us by though.

Thanks guys! That's pretty much how i had It envisioned. Looks like a narrow frame blade frame from the pictures. I was planning on mounting the cylinder posts to the front of the tractor frame, just wasn't sure about the rear anchor ahead of the pivot point.

If I remember right, the back mount was the same used on a 2wd tractor, you just bolt it to the front final drive instead. The tubing on ours went all the way in, so it basicallly is the same as mounting to a
2wd tractor.

For the way that the A4T front axle pivots, I wouldn't think that you could mount anything to it. There are a handful of bolt holes around the articulating joint. I was thinking about fabricating a bracket for that area to pin into the rear post of the blade frame. That's where the issue is.

That axle doesnt' move much, no different than a rigid hitch implement hooked to a drawbar. We pushed manure and silage for 20 years with no issue, but if you mount further back the blade and rear mount point
would be in sync. I was over at Dads tonight and took a few pictures of how we have it mounted on the Versatile.

hanks for the pics and info Moline Guy. I will certainly work that into the equation. I have a lead on another blade frame that is close by. This one should be a little larger and heavier. Both of which would help. Had a good look at the frame around the articulating joint yesterday and think that I've come up with a plan.

Ok guys, I got this thing together a couple of months ago and have used it in the dirt and extensively in the snow. So far, no issues whatsoever.
Hope to get paint on it this year...

Been offline several months, blade looks well built, shouldn]t break anything with that setup, well done!
