metal shim gaskets

I am assuming that I should never apply gasket sealer where metal shims are used as gaskets on my ZTN and ZTU. Can someone confirm?

By applying any silicon or sealant normally defeats purpose of shimming. Any had apart had none. Bit of grease??

where are the metal shims? Belt pulley drive, etc?

The belt pulley has metal shims but also the bearing caps to the transmission inside the clutch housing.

I've used a small amount of permatex aviation form a gasket on shims to help hold them together and keep from seeking oil. Never had any adverse effects.

its not the normal thing to do. and i say no. belt pully the shims would be for backlash setting. be a pain setting backlash and changing shims all glued up... so no. maybe on the out side ones if u must. i have worked shimming stuff and no glue ever.
