You can try heat and beat. If you can pull
hard enough the brake shoes will come with
it breaking the retainers and springs.

I agree, try beating, prying, pulling, maybe a SMALL grinder to grind the heads off the brakeshoe holddowns to assist in pulling them off the backingplate

What worked on the Froze up Z drums back in the '90s: Cut the heads off the retainer pins-the ones that hold the shoes to the backing
plates and then pry the drum off.

My 69 GMC 1 ton has the adjuster holes torched bigger than normal. The previous owner loved his torch! It was his favorite wrench. I guess
you could open up a hole in the backing plate and then cut off the adjuster with the torch too. I don't think it wouldn't hurt the drum
much. and you will probably have to turn it anyway. I guess you can still get springs and adjusters somewhere. I did find that comparing 1/2
ton to to 1 ton '53 Chevy brakes, your choices for parts become much more limited.

I had to pry the drums off the 36 JTU here.
OT also. There's a home brew 29 IH speedster here that's the same. I had the shoes set close, life got in the way and now all are stuck tight as well.
DEL, would you tell when you find your solution? Thank you. :)
