8N rear hub removal

I have an axle seal leak and also need brakes on the back of my 8n. I can't get the hub to come off. I have some serious pressure on it and it is not moving. I pulled my share of hubs and don't remember one this tight. Is there something I am forgetting or any suggestions .

I have had them so tight that it took a lot bigger puller than that plus heating it almost red hot. I suggest that you run that nut in to very close to the hub in case it suddenly pops under heavy tension.

You're probably lucky. If the axle or hub were worn it would
come off easily. When they fit properly they are very tight.
I don't see anything you're missing off hand.
Don't catch it on fire. ;)

A good thigh N hub will fudge it up I have its mate X2 its fudged up... The weak link is were the arms hook on the hub a good N hub will bend them

"The weak link is were the arms hook on the hub"

That's the way it looks to me too. Luckily I haven't bent them yet.
Sometimes I wish they would come off for storage, but they don't.
They will, at least, move around the hub so it is adjustable and can
be used as a two jaw puller if desired. It's not a bad deal at all.
I probably should stop using my impact wrench on it though. ;)

Some guys (ahead of actual removal) loosen the big nut a turn or two and drive around, work it, jockey it around with the steering and brakes, 'til it pops loose.

That is a good idea. But my 8n is not running right now. I never thought about doing that. When I was on the road doing forklift repairs, I had some wheels that did not want to come off the hubs.
No real way of putting a puller on them. And my supervisor said to do just that. And it worked pretty good.

Well the hub is off. I maxed out my air impact, it would not tighten it anymore. I maxed out my maul, it would not move it anymore. So I got my 3/4 drive breaker bar with a 3 ft pipe and moved it some more and it let go. That 3 ft pipe will do it every time.

Put it back together, leave the axle nut a turn or two loose and work it.

It will loosen.

"I meant were the arms hook the hub on the puller not were the arms bolt to the tractor hub"

Yep, that's what I meant too. Mine do not come off there. They just slide around the hub.
