Thought I'd check in even though I've not made substantial progress. Cyl head is holding on by one stud. They're frozen together, the two. Everything else came loose, top is torn down and all components (what few there are) are removed to free up space to work in. Kinda frustrating--like a wiggly loose tooth when we were kids--just want to yank it out and be done with it. I'll drag it down to the shop when I have some free time, but I'm anxious to look inside after liberating the head. This is a tractor I bought with a tank full of fresh fuel, newer-looking radiator, and good rubber all around. Brakes seem good, clutch appears to be in good adjustment (from what I can tell with it not running) I'll give a shout when I have a little more to report. Thanks all for the good advice so far--didn't want you to think I'd forgotten you.
