Universal Drawbar Lock

Do you guys think one of these would be sufficient. Or do I need one on the left and right side of drawbar? I will only be pulling a small 5x8 trailer.

You only need one side. Instead of buying one why not make one out of scrap metal. Piece of steel, a J bolt and a bolt for the drawbar. I would suggest stays going up to you toplink mount since the 9n/2n/8n
has no down pressure. Aloo when buying one made sure it has a cut out for the stays. I tow around my log splitter and trailer for wood.

I like the factory style much better( picture). The ones like you posted allow the drawbar to rotate too much.

I think I would save my money and take some flat bar to make non adjustable stay bars that bolted to the end holes on the draw bar . It would not rotate or raise ?

I could remove the triangle set up of the draw bar and stay bars and not loose any components , maybe .

JD Sellers picture is the only way to go. It keeps the drawbar from rotating but it also gets rid of the side sway that the lock will not do and also will keep the drawbar at the correct height, not let it raise when a load starts to push you. And setting mack like that you will not be breaking your trailer hitch by turning to short. Have had 4 tractors like that so I know what needs to be done. Those things that just keep the drawbar from rotating are DANGEROUS as they will not hold the drawbar in place and will want to make what you are trying to pull want to fishtail untill you have lost control of the tractor and wrecked. If you are only moving at a craul you might get by but not at road speed.

Another type with some multi-purpose uses; it came from YT or one of the other well-known N suppliers (can't remember!). One side stabilizer has always seemed satisfactory to me. I use stays if going on the highway with a trailer; if just moving things around it works fine without them.
