Carb rebuild kit

Bought the comprehensive rebuild kit. A nice handful of loose parts. How do I tell the Jets apart? They look the same to my old eyes.

The idle jet is bigger around, 10-32-UNF threads.
Main and econo jets are both 8-32-UNC threads but the main jet has a
"head" on it and the internal hole is smaller than the one in the econo jet.

Got all parts back in except economize jet. That one has lost part of its head and will never come out with any tool I have. Got it all put back together and the tractor started right up. And the carb leaked a lot from the crack at the fuel inlet. As I was told JB Weld did not fix it so this was an exercise in wasted time.
Took all the new parts back out and rebuilt the carb I had taken off. Started up, no leaks, adjusted out and sat there running. Put it in the barn and tried to start it this morning. Hit a couple of times but didn't start. Battery was running down so I put it on the charger.
Most likely if I pull it, it will start right up. Just not with the starter. I suspect it has the original generator and starter on it. The ammeter does not show a positive reading when the tractor is running. (The original ammeter or the new one I just put on.) The battery always seems to be almost run down. And yes, I have cleaned the battery cable connections and the connections at the starter and generator. I have a new wiring harness but I haven't attempted to put it on yet.
Seems to be the fate of a 8N. Fix one thing and something else breaks.

"Seems to be the fate of a 8N. Fix one thing and something else breaks."

That seems to be the case sometimes when a previous owner has
neglected or abused them. They are very reliable when normal care
is provided as it should be. That's why it's in the operators manual.

Your economizer jet may cause drivability problems, but would not
cause a no start condition. I think you're on the right track with
charging the battery.

I have a TSX-428 with a crack in the top cover where the elbow
screws in. Sealed with epoxy. It was that way when I got it.
It works, so I have left it alone. I'd be afraid to take the elbow out.

Mine worked for years sealed with epoxy. Soaking the carb in
cleaner removed the epoxy. I have owned the tractor since July
4th 2001 and have put about 350 hours on the clock. It has never
been easy to start. They are maintenance intensive tractors.
Discovered this morning that my battery charger isn't working so
I will have to buy another to get this battery charged.

So after discovering that JB Weld wouldn't fix the crack in the carburetor, and transferring all those new parts into the TSC carburetor, and charging the battery, today I actually used it.
Starts fairly easy, runs for about 5 minutes or so, then will "run out of gas and die" unless I can get to the choke knob and pump the choke 5 or 6 times to keep it running. Repeat as necessary until you are done for the day. So I am right back to where I started and about $50 in the hole for a comprehensive rebuild kit that didn't fix anything.
Unless there is a reliable way to fix a crack in cast iron, I guess I have to buy another carburetor. So has anyone got a 1980's DeLorean with the Flux capacitor on it so I can go back to 1952 to get a real M/S TSX241B carburetor for this tractor. Instead of a cheap Chinese or other Asian knockoff that doesn't work?
And some more info. Fuel flow is fine. Wouldn't run at all if it wasn't, correct? Either float needle valve is sticking or float is hanging up on carb housing. Either way, carb isn't delivering fuel the way it should.

No, but I might have a TSX-241B already rebuilt, tested and adjusted.
