Screw Spec / Part Number

I'm searching for and cannot find a part number or spec for the 3 machine screws that attach the oil pickup tube to the oil pump in an 8n. Managed to shear the head of one in half at the safety wire holes while tightening it up. They're the screws that attach part #8N6615 to #8N6603. I'd like to find replacements that are cross-drilled for safety wire if possible. Any help?

Overtightening is never needed, take it easy. The oil pump pickup tube flange mount screws are p/n 22503-S, a 1/4-20 x 5/8L hex head bolt drilled crossways thru the hex for the wire. I don't see anyone who repops them nor the wires. You will have to get the holes drilled out either by you or a machine shop. You need to have a good drill press to clamp the bolts securely and which to ensure the drill is not going to walk over like it will if trying to hand drill them. Here is a LINK to new bolts, a quantity of 100, but for that price, will be a lot cheaper than Fastenal or TSC...

Wasn't over-torquing them - Understand they're only going to 10-15 ftlbs. Just had one snap across the bolt head right where the wire holes are, must have been metal fatigue of some sort.

Is there an airport near you? An airport maintenance shop may have those bolts. Airplanes safety wire about everything.

Turns out McMaster does have safety wire bolts so I'll have a pack of 10 at my door tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for the help all!

Outside of life threatening systems like aviation safety wire is an antiquity. Get some regular cap screws and a tube of thread locker.

I hear ya, and you're right, but I'd prefer to do it the OEM way here. For the practice, for peace of mind, and because I own 2 N's that need rebuilding so I'm learning as much as I can of the right way on this one.
