Picked up a 1550 Utility the engine is probably beyond repair and I have a very good diesel motor sitting in a parts White 2-70.Any practical way to put the motor out of the 2-70
in the 1550?

TF, Was that the one on Craigslist? I have put a 283 diesel in my 1555 and now it has a 265 gas. The input shaft is longer in the 1550 than the 1650 or in your case White 2-70. Engine will bolt in to existing holes in frame. Its when I bolted the Hydra-Power Drive on I found out the input shaft was too long. On the second engine refit the holes were re drilled in the frame as a new input shaft was installed and didn't want to cut it.

It was the one on the South Coast Mass. CL for about the last 6 months tried to talk myself out of it but finally decided what the heck you don't find these every day.Its better than I expected really the 3pt, hydraulics and PS all look real good with good fluid, the motor has the head off with a small crack in the side of the block so who knows there. Its missing the side
panels and the gas tank so I'll be looking for those.$600 to buy and $967 to haul so I'm happy with what I got. It'll go good with my 1600 Utility.Rear rims and frontend are also real good too.

Good deal! I was also watching it on CL and I know a guy in PA was watching it too. For me I am always looking for 1550 and 1555 stuff so I can someday put mine back to somewhat original. I had the original hood side panels and engine but lost them when my neighbors shed burned. Good luck with yours sometimes I find some used parts on Ebay. I put Oliver 1550 tractor parts in the search box.

It'll be on the long term list,I need a gas tank, side panels and maybe a motor.Do you or anyone know of any other gas tanks that will fit like one off a 77,770 etc?

I know a 1650 tank is the same as that is what I have on mine. Mine was a diesel tank so had to plug where the return line goes in as I have a gas engine. 770 engine will fit with no problem. Once in awhile I see and old Lull HYLIFT for sale and some had the 770 engine. If it has the Reverse-O-Torq transmission you will have to install flywheel. Pictures are the Lull my old neighbor used to build their machine shed. Some even had 1550 and 1650 drive train.

(quoted from post at 13:56:40 05/26/18) What did you have to do about the PTO shaft?
If you re drill the engine mounting holes in the frame nothing has to change. If you cut about an inch off the input shaft you have to cut the PTO drive shaft too. PTO shaft pictured is from a 1650 and is less than 74 inches long. That might work but never tried it. My tractor on my neighbors spreader while his New Holland TS 6030 was getting $10,000 dollars worth of transmission work done. He used it to cultivate 50 acres of corn too!
