880 diesel head

A buddy just called and asked me if a head off a 1755 diesel would fit his 880 diesel. I told him probably not. Different blocks. I also said I wasn't sure, and knew where to find out. So what is the consensus ? He said he is looking for a "better " head. Something that's flows better than the 880 head. I think he wants to start pulling the tractor again.

Oh Boy if he wants to do that he has a lot of money to burn!. The valve arrangement is different the number of head bolts if different to start with. The very early Super 88 heads had larger exhaust valves IF you can find one that has not had the other valves installed. I would need to look at the specs for a 1650 or 1800 cam shaft I think they have more duration and or valve lift.

John now I am curious. Would a direct injection head from a 1650 fit ?

It is the same as a 1755, but with smaller intake valves.
