White 2-70 Valve specs?

Have the 2-70 at the shop and the head is off and going to a machine shop to be checked.

I was thinking I've heard of a valve update that helps with the hard starting?

Does anyone have info that I can send to my mechanic or the machine shop?

Thanks
DAN

DO NOT let them just grind the valves and seats, or it WILL be worse than before. The valves on that engine are to be ABOVE the head surface, head will need new seats at least if it's to ever start good cold again. On my White 4-78 forklift I had all the valves set out .090-.100 inch, as the pistons had .140 inch deep valve pockets. With the head gasket thickness added too there was no danger of the valves hitting the pistons during the valve overlap time. The valves were all flush with the head before I had the new seats installed, engine starts MUCH better cold now.

IF OEM pistons,or equivilent and block has never been decked, valve protrusion for intakes are to be .014-.029. exhaust is .026-.034 nominal with max protrusion to be no more than .041. This is per a white service bulletin. I have gone to the plus side of these specs on a few 283/310's and they start well.
