1958 Cockshutt 550 stuck in gear

I just purchased this tractor and now seems stuck in forward gear, the last owner told me it happened before, just remove stick shift and line up the 3 notches . With different bars and clutch all the way in, they don't seem to move?

Any ideas would be appreciated?

Rock the tractor a little bit to take the pressure off the gears.

Your DETENT springs and balls may be broken, rust frozen, or stuck....on your trans. shift rails.

Did not work but noticed no oil in the transmission, can you tell me what kind of oil goes in the transmission. Where the 3 slides are that I have to line up, there is no oil at all.

80w90 or 85w140 gear oil will work fine.
