Farmall Rim Paint

I think I read somewhere that the Farmalls (H, M, A, etc.) came from the factory with galvanized rims. I see a lot of tractors with the shiny aluminum paint on the rims but not sure thats what I want. I was thinking something a little less shiny, such as the gray/silver you see on truck step bumpers. Is there a "correct" rim paint? I"m going to use the gun to spray them. Any ideas or suggestions welcomed!

you can also get high zinc content paint as well as cad plating style paint.. brushed aluminum ain't bad either.. better than shiney aluminum.

If I ask for that color name and year, I assume they'll know what color I am talking about.

That sounds exaactly like what I'm looking for; thanks guys!

On these John Deere 430 Power Adjust Wheels for the silver I used PPG Silver Code 8568

Hate to admit that the JD wheel paint looks like what I want.......as long as I don't get any of that green and yellow bleeding over lol!

Nice looking tractor though!

You can bet they were sandblasted, then fibreglass filler (Bondo) then sanded, then epoxy primer, thern premer surfacer, then sanded and perhaps one more time PS, and final sand before they were painted. Anyway that's how I do mine. Each rear rim probably 8-9 hrs labor, 50 bucks materials.

Go to lowes and get a can of "hammered steel" VERY VERY nice finish for the rims you are looking for

Boy! the average person does not realize what goes into a nice paint job. What is the going rate per hour for a decent painter? Tony
