My question is instead of using bailing wire on governor spring can I lighten weights to get 20% over stock rpms. And would this make the throttle more snappy... or is stiffening the spring going to do same thing... also if I was to lighten weights how much? Drill holes or grind some off and weight on scale and match them?

I took 20%.off last time, and a stronger spring, trying for 3500. Got it but hunts to much. When hooked to a load you have just one chance to let the clutch out. So just try 10% first. We used a postage scale. Also down at your foot on the right side I lengthen the pivot point so will pull rod farther and still push gov back to idle. Ended up with a lever on right fender hooked direct to carb.
