oliver 88 gearing

Wanting to get more out of my 88. motor has ok power for 4mph,20 inch drawbar. Wondering if lowering gearing would help me any? I know some tractors are running a lower gear and makes up a little for lack of power. I am running 18.4x 34 tires and they hook very well. very happy wwith tire set up. Any input appreciated.

You have a serial number for the tractor? There were several different ring and pinion combinations.

The onlynumbers I can come up with are 44088. Cant see the rest. These were the last digits. I have been told that the serial number does not match up to the gearing on any Oliver tractor. My buddy has an 88 and he has a low gear in it. Mine is faster than his. Thanks!

Except for the 53 & 54 serial numbers if you have the complete serial number you can determine if you have a regular or a slow speed rear end.
