I know people have put 504 engine in 400 chassis, just wondering if someone would share the clutch flywheel combo that works. It will be a stock engine for now, not extreme on power. Thank you in advance for any help. I'm open to text or phone calls if it's to much to type out.

The 12 '' clutch will take around 120 HP with heavy springs and a 6 pad disc
A 14'' clutch from a 970 8 speed will take a lot more
I think that if you do some grinding in the clutch housing a 15'' will fit also
Just be sure and keep you RPM's under 2800 to prevent major damage and injury

Roger, I have a complete 1370. Not familiar with the clutch that it has. Do you know if I could use that one with some grinding? I really appreciate your help. Carl.

I am the farthest thing from a Case expert. But I don't think a 1370 has a clutch like that. I think it is just a hyd valve. They won't stop unless they are in low. I would measure the imput shaft and count the splines. On your 400. It may be the same as a 4x4 pickup. I would get a flywheel made that fit. Then you can use a pressure plate from a Dodge or Ford. You might want to turn it hard sometime. Just a few thoughts. Vic

On my D17 Allis I turned that down to 180 size. For the ring gear so a 180 starter would work. Then drilled it for a Ford clutch. Then balanced everything.
