I have a Cockshutt 30 that I restored a few years back that ran/runs real good but found out a couple years ago that she is a little down on the power end of things, dyno 18hp I think. Anyways its a good parade tractor and I am thinking about freshening up the ol girl and figured if I am going to do it I want to attempt to make it a stronger puller as well for 3,500-4,500. I don't pull a lot currently, 3-4 times a year with a few other tractors, but with my daughters getting older with tractor interest and wanting to be more involved I figured it is time to look at getting a couple more tractors up to par. I mostly run stock to improved classes on smaller pulls so I am not looking at going real big but would just like a good strong consistent setup that I can play with weight placement using my 13.6 tires. I know I have seen some guys on here that are good contacts and probably have what I will need so I am hoping they can chime in.
Here are my thoughts and questions
-Overbore Kit?
-Little bit of head work
-Should I do anything with the Cam?
-Is there any governor work recommended, to me it seems a little sluggish but haven't had much for engine loads on it
-It seems like I have a ton of throttle movement before getting much power so is that normal?
-Obviously I will be looking at the distributor as well as if I need to do anything different with the Carb
Any help would be greatly appreciated and maybe it could be a winter project that the kids can help with if I am lucky.
Thanks in advance
