JD B all fuel head.

I?m trying to get to 8:1 compression on my B. I?m running M&W pistons. How much can I safely mill the head and not have to do a lot of other modifications? Thanks

Why not run a gas head from a later tractor ? If there like an A you can't shave a all fuel had enough to be as good as a gas head . Gas head and gas manifold should bolt on and might flow better . Ya might have to work on the flange of the exhaust pipe .

While it is apart....put a GOOD, re-ground or aftermarket Cam, so it can actually Breath...well worth the time and $$...

The original valve timing SUCKS..( NO Overlap)..

ALL B heads are the SAME chamber volume & shape from 41-52. Gas or All fuel are the SAME. You CAN use a flat head off a 39-40, you have to oversize the head stud holes slightly because they don't quite line up. works good. Water outlet on bottom may be different too i can't remember. Or you can find a Heisler head but they're hard to find & around $1000 for a core. If you mill the stock head you don't gain enough compression to even measure on a gauge & it weakens the head which already has enough problems holding a gasket- horrible idea.
