4 x 8 trailer lift rebuild

Rained all day yesterday, 3 1/2", so only had a short day today to work on it. I decided to scrap tye cable system and go hydraulic. Got a hand pump and cylinder from Bailey's for $250.00 delivered to my house, add $103.00 for 2 hoses. I went with a 20 1/2" x 2 1/2" stroke and bore cylinder. I wanted to stay small to keep the amount of pumping down and I hit it just right. The lower bars are 1 1/2" x 1/8 tube, I used the square tube hinges to help keep it from siezing. For the hinge parts I usually usev1 1/4 x 1/8 tube but felt that wouldn't be enough this time. I needed to stay with 1" shaft because of the cylinder and couldn't get 1 1/2 x 1/4 tube, so I doubled the tubes with a 1 1/4 inside a 1 1/2. It worked good since they fit tight. The lower arms are 36" long.

The upper part is 1/4 plate. The lower pivot is just a drilled hole with a 1 1/4 filler tube to keep wear down. The upper pivot is the doubled tube cut through the plate.

The front pivot is also drilled through the plate with a tube filler.

The lower mounts to the trailer are 1/4 angle drilled and will get a tube wear bushing, the top mounts are 1/4" formed channel and will also get the tube bushings. This is the first test run up while it was just tacked together.

I had to add some braces back to the next cross member because the front panel was twisting with a heavy lift, they are some of the 1 1/2 tube reclaimed from the first lift. They are tied to tye channels and the gussets in front. I also added a support for the rear of the hoist from the same tube.

Here it is all the way up.

This is a load test, 2 front tractor weights, 6 pails of oil, 6 large batteries, a head from my tractor and me, should be around 900 pounds all in the front and it lifted it no problem. That is about all this trailer should have in the front because the frame was a bit springy at that point.

You have waaay too much talent, building your own hoist! 2nd last pic with the person with the 5 gallon bucket around himself...what"s with that?

That would be my beautiful and madly in love with me wife. She was running the pump while I rode.
