Yellow headlights

I know a little off topic but... I was driving down the road a couple days ago and passed a newer Dodge pickup that had the normal white factory driving/fog lights but yellow headlights. These were a bright yellow like older fog lights. I didn't think these were legal, at least not here in New York State.
Anybody else seen anything like this?

I've never seen yellow headlights. I think you may be right about them being illegal. The truck was born with white headlights and there is a law to that effect. Someone has done this themselves. From what I can find out about them is they are more common in Europe.

See a lot of yellow lights on older cars that lens have yellowed or charging system has problems. The only light that are not legal in our state are the blue lights. In Indiana the only vehicles that can use blue head lights for highway driving are vehicles that came from factory with the blue head lights.

yellow headlights are European leagle, but not in the USA i dont know about canada , but most likely the truck had charging issues

This person had the driving/fog on and the headlights were on and a bright yellow like most older(think 1950s/60s)fog lights. Definitely NOT a charging system/bad ground issue.
Did not see the license plate so could have been a Canadian registered vehicle.
Funny thing was there was a Sheriff's car running 2 or 3 cars ahead of this truck. Must be he never checked his rear view. LOL

could it have been the new LEDs with the yellow halo rings around them ??

Back in the seventies a certain segment of society installed yellow lenses over their headlights producing yellow light. J C Whitney used to sell them.

In 1968 I bought a Morris which may have come from Quebec, as they were not a car that was imported into the US. It had one yellow and one clear headlight. When I took it to get it inspected they made me replace the yellow one.

on't know about the yellow lights, but last time I checked the Vehicle and Traffic Law Book the only legal cover allowed for head lights was Glass. How many vehicles this day an age have Glass Lenses ??

Federal DOT regs say all new vehicles are to have white headlights. That doesn't say you can't put yellow bulbs or lens on but maybe stopped and told to remove them.
