unusual (to me) diagonal cutter

Will try to load pics. I have an unusual diagonal cutter with sort of double jointed arms. Apparently the design is to get a long reach from handles to the cutter jaws, without having the extremely wide opening of the handles like some cheap products have. Does this design have a specific use? Seems it would be pretty costly for just casual home repair shop.

Clearance side to side, and distance from potential contact with moving, or electrified or sensitive components takes a tool like this. It might have rare usefulness, but high
value when used. Snipping the off color green wire with the light green trace deep in a timer to defuse a small nuclear device seems an appropriate use. Jim

What if it was made by IHC and they all were the same color !
Green with numbers on them that easily wiped off. That was what my Scout had.

With compound pivots it should have much more cutting force than a single pivot cutter of the same length.

Kind of looks like an old pair of what we call "musky" pliers.

One model of [b:4bda81e63e]Greys - Prowla Angler pliers[/b:4bda81e63e] are about as close to the one you show that I can think of.

I doubt you would find a specific reason for those. I have several pair of those but they are modern snap on and matco. 2 pair of cutters, a 1 pair of needle nose. They are real handy for the exact reason you mentioned, cram them in a tight engine bay or under a dash where space is real limited and you will appreciate them
