Time to machine Delrin

I need to cut some 3" wide by 8" long by 3/16" deep slots in Delrin.

I have 4 tooth cutters from 1/2" to 1 1/4", max speed on mill is 2500 RPM.

What do you think for cutters, speeds and depth of cut per run?

1/2" 2 flute at full spindle RPM at 60 to 100 IPM feed speed (4 flute can heat some), so I would slow the feed to about 40 with that cutter.

Two flute mills will work better, but 4 will work.

It machines beautifully, hog it out fast.

One thing to watch, if cutting all the way through, might be better to clamp it down to a piece of scrap aluminum or wood instead of holding it in the vise. It will try to collapse inward in the vise.

Delrin is especially dimensionally stable, doesn't absorb water as nylon does. Leo

I got the pieces milled, no sweat, took air gun and kept tool clean and cool.
