Son was putting 720 back together and broke off the brass fitting in the head that feeds the oil to the rocker arms. Tried to get it out with an easy out(no such tool) and broke a chunk of the casting off. Option 1 grind off square, drill and tap bottom part. 2 drill and put a nipple in the hole and braze it in. 3 braze the broken piece back on. Any other suggestions.

I guess I'd try brazing the piece back on first- It might work, and if it doesn't, you won't have screwed the area up and can still try the other ideas.

I would go with taking it down to a flat surface and retapping it.

But, call me over cautious, I would not try grinding it on the engine. Even with a shop vac and packing the hole with grease, I would still be afraid of the grinding grit getting into places it shouldn't.

My choice would be to pull the head, machine the boss down, tap the hole.

Yes, Murphy follows me everywhere, but he especially watches diesels!

Steve, the danged thing he broke is actually in the top of the BLOCK of that 2-cylinder diesel... NOT fun to deal with, for sure!
