Husquavarna 545 hot start ?

I have a 2 year old Husky 545 chainsaw.

On cold start, following the instructions exactly, it'll start on the 3rd or 4th pull.

After some use, and switched OFF, it'll start first pull within 5 minutes.

Let it set 15-20 minutes, and I have to try every combination of choke, fuel bulb, compression release, and
many pulls to get it restarted. Then it runs fine.

Got any suggestions for a better hot start procedure?

Trade it in on an Echo..

The hot start issue with Husqvarna is in the design of the saws.

The cylinder being laid back puts it to close to the carb and once hot it evaporates the fuel out of the carb making them a nightmare to start when hot after sitting a few minutes..

No real easy fix to the problem. You could try placing some insulating tape (found at auto parts stores) on the front and back of the plastic heat shield between the cylinder and carb. Be careful for that shield is part of the intake manifold and if you break it, it will have to be replaced.

If you open the saw up and look at how close the supply fuel line (on the right side looking toward the bar) is to the cylinder. You will realize just how stupid the saw is designed.

Don't remember the # for sure where I worked, think 445 Rancher Husq. but that one if you wanted to start it hot you had to turn it on it's side and loosen the fuel cap to bleed pressure off. then it would start easy.

Our experience with a 550XP with computer carb is use the primer button.

Forget 5 pumps, prime till you feel resistance

Loosen the gas cap when sitting it down hot. Then when ready to start again, tighten cap. When it is hot, gas is under pressure and floods the engine causing hard starting.
