I might have problems finding a starter for the 1050 mini does a starter from a massy 97 fit the mini?

not sure what starter is on the 1050 , the 97 may fit. your neighbour sexsmith tractor parts should know.

Mine was a military spec starter and the highly-regarded local rebuild outfit had a tough time finding some parts. MM seemed to use a lot of non-main stream suppliers that have since gone out of business. Webster pumps and steering units are two examples.

According to my nnalert catalog, a lot of Massey's used the same starter as the G1050:
4800,4840,4880,4900,1150,1155,2745,2775,2805,2810,
2830,2850,2870,4790 (1975-78)
